August 2015
As students pack their bags and head to college, Culture of Respect is implementing its CORE (Culture of Respect Engagement) Blueprint Pilot Program on 14 diverse campuses across the United States.
What exactly does this mean and why is this a BIG development in the fight against campus rape? Because we all know the statistics: one in five young women and 5% of young men will be assaulted in college, and these students are at a higher risk of dropping out, failing their courses or extending the time it takes to earn their degrees. The breadth of this issue can make the work needed to combat it seem overwhelming, yet our approach indicates change is forthcoming.
The 14 Pilot schools will work with our experts to employ research-informed leading practices in campus sexual assault prevention and response and will build their capacity in all six areas of the CORE Blueprint:
Survivor support with reporting options
Multi-tiered prevention education
Public disclosure of the issue
Clear policies on adjudication and penalties
School-wide mobilization/empowerment of campus activist organizations
On-going self-assessment
A Culture of Respect Campus Leadership Team, established at each school, has begun the process of feedback and reflection on their current climate, programs and processes. By this time next year, we intend to share data that confirms the impact of the CORE Blueprint’s holistic approach in creating a campus culture that is free of sexual violence.

The CORE Blueprint Pilot Program schools will provide on-going feedback and data to ensure their efforts lead – collaboratively – to the best model for change.
Every one of us is a stakeholder in the social change needed to eradicate sexual assault on campus. We applaud these 14 schools for their forward-thinking vision.
We look forward to keeping you abreast of our progress as the CORE Blueprint Pilot Program makes a difference – sharpen your pencils!
